Where to stay in Sydney?

Sydney offers numerous hotels, hostels, and Airbnb options, so you'll have plenty of choices for finding a place to stay. However, it's sometimes necessary to book well in advance, especially for the summer period, and particularly for Christmas and New Year’s, when prices can increase significantly.

We recommend staying in central Sydney, in neighborhoods such as Darling Harbour, The Rocks, or Surry Hills, or near the beaches at Bondi or Manly Beach.

How to get around Sydney?

The easiest way is to use public transport. The bus and train networks are highly developed. 
Don't hesitate to jump on a ferry either, it's the perfect alternative for sightseeing and enjoying breathtaking views. 
The Uber app is also widely used in Sydney.

Bondi

Bondi is one of the most famous neighborhoods in Sydney, and arguably in all of Australia, thanks to its iconic 1-kilometer stretch of golden sand beach, which is a surfer’s paradise! Trendy, vibrant, and incredibly popular, Bondi is a fantastic place to live and explore, with a variety of restaurants, cafes, shops, markets, and festivals. It's also the starting point for the famous Coastal Walk. Bondi is well-served by public transport, especially buses.
From Circular Quayn Town Hall or Central Station, buses 333 or 380 will take you there in 30 minutes.

Circular Quay

Sydney's iconic waterfront district, located exactly between the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Circular Quay is a vibrant area perfect for strolling while enjoying spectacular views of the harbor. It is also the departure point for ferries. The area is home to numerous restaurants and bars with harbor views. It's a popular spot, so it's recommended to visit early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the crowds.

The Rocks

As Sydney's oldest neighborhood, The Rocks is situated directly across from the Opera House and is easily accessible from Circular Quay, just a ten-minute walk away. This lively area features a mix of restaurants, pubs, and souvenir shops, making it a great place to explore.

Darling Harbour

A pedestrian-friendly area near the Central Business District (CBD), Darling Harbour is a lively and vibrant neighborhood with numerous restaurants, shops, and museums. It's perfect for family outings or visits with friends.

Kings Cross

About 2 km from the CBD, Kings Cross is known for its dynamic and bustling atmosphere. Famous for its nightlife with plenty of bars, pubs, and clubs, Kings Cross also boasts street art, historic buildings, and charming alleyways. It's a neighborhood full of energy and history.

Manly

Located on the northern coast, Manly is a laid-back neighborhood with beautiful beaches, coves, and beachside boutiques. It's a relaxed atmosphere where people can enjoy a slower pace of life. Manly is accessible from Circular Quay via ferry, and there are a few parking spots for campervans and vans, though they are limited.

Surry Hills

Just 3 km from the CBD, Surry Hills is a trendy and bohemian neighborhood known for its vibrant café culture, vintage shops, and local designer boutiques. The area is also renowned for its street art, galleries, festivals, and markets. Surry Hills is a hotspot for nightlife with its lively bars and pubs.

Queen Victoria Building (QVB)

A large five-story shopping center located in the heart of Sydney, in a historic building that opened in 1898. You can stroll through the shops or even take a guided tour of this beautiful monument.

Paddy’s Market

The market is open Wednesday to Sunday from 10 AM to 6 PM.

A large shopping center that houses numerous stores and restaurants. There are several Westfield locations in Sydney (Pitt Street, Bondi Junction, Chatswood, Parramatta, etc.).

Don't miss the famous Bondi Icebergs at the end of the beach, located on the cliffs of Bondi, a saltwater pool overlooking the ocean that welcomes swimmers all year round.

Manly Beach

Located on the northern coast of Sydney, Manly Beach is accessible from the city center by ferry. It's a 1.5 km long beach with a relaxed vibe, ideal for a scenic walk along the shore.
