Hobart, the capital of Tasmania, stands out with its unique charm. Once a convict colony, Hobart has evolved into a modern and lively city. Between the sea and the mountains, it offers spectacular landscapes. With its bustling harbor, Hobart is a blend of history, modernity, and creativity, creating a dynamic atmosphere that attracts visitors.

The city also boasts an impressive and growing food and wine scene. The restaurants highlight fresh local produce, from seafood caught the same day to vegetables grown in nearby farms. Hobart is also home to iconic cultural institutions, such as MONA, which showcases contemporary art exhibitions.

In addition to its cultural wealth, Hobart is the perfect starting point for exploring the stunning Tasmania, offering excellent hikes for nature lovers and walkers.

Museum of Old and New Art (MONA)

An institution in Hobart, this unique museum features contemporary exhibitions as well as ancient works. It’s a must-visit for art lovers.

Prepare your visit of MONA here

Mount Wellington

It looms high over the city. You can drive your campervan or RV straight to the summit along a scenic winding road (about a 30-minute drive). The 360-degree views across the entire region and out to the ocean are nothing short of breathtaking! Local tip: bundle up! It’s often freezing and super windy at the top, even in the middle of summer.

Vineyards of Hobart

The surroundings of Hobart are a true paradise for wine lovers, world-renowned for their cool-climate wines like Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, and outstanding sparkling wines.
All of these valleys are tailor-made for day trips by campervan or RV, with most vineyards just a short, easy drive from the city center.

Our top picks: Coal River Valley (20 min from Hobart) – Derwent Valley (25 min from Hobart) – Huon Valley (35 min from Hobart).

A cruise around Hobart Harbour is a unique way to experience the city from a whole new angle, offering sweeping views of the waterfront and surrounding mountains. We recommend Hobart Historic Cruises, a local operator with over 30 years of experience.

Royal Botanical Gardens

Beautiful, peaceful botanical gardens—the ideal spot for a picnic break. They’re home to a one-of-a-kind subantarctic plant house, the only one in the world. Plan your visit to the Botanical Gardens

Salamanca Place et Salamanca market.

This is the vibrant heart of Hobart. Housed inside 19th-century sandstone warehouses, you’ll find a bustling mix of cafés, art galleries, and cozy eateries. If you're visiting on a Saturday, don't miss the market! It’s packed with local crafts, street music, and a huge array of delicious local produce. Plan your market visit

The Taste of Tasmania

The Taste of Tasmania festival (now rebranded as the Taste of Summer) is a true foodie paradise and Tasmania's must-visit summer culinary event! It runs from late December through January.

Originally created to welcome sailors and spectators arriving from the famous Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, this festival celebrates the absolute best of Tasmanian produce in a vibrant waterfront setting.

I’m drooling just thinking about it!
