Melbourne

Melbourne is Australia’s second largest city after Sydney.

The capital of its state, Victoria, Melbourne has a population of over 4 million.

Having the largest tram network in the world, it will be easy for you to get around the city centre on foot or by public transport. No need to rent your motorhome to visit the city.

Located on the large natural bay of Port Philipps, Melbourne is considered one of the 5 liveliest cities in the world. The population is very well off compared to the rest of the country, but living there is also more expensive (health care, education, tourism, etc.).

Melbourne really developed during the Victoria Gold Rush of the 1850s. Now the city is an important financial centre in Australia and the entire Asia-Pacific region.

Melbourne is a city that you absolutely must visit when travelling to Australia.

Recognized for its sporting activity, Melbourne brings together the largest stadiums in the country with mainly the MCG which is a cricket stadium.

You can also follow one of the many rugby or Australian football teams.

If you are travelling to Australia in January or February, consider getting a ticket to see the Australian Open Tennis.

Considered the artistic capital of Australia, this city will amaze you with its cool and relaxed side and its relaxed atmosphere.

When you visit Melbourne, stroll through the various arcades (such as City Laneway) where you will find bars, restaurants, small shops, cafes, etc. Let yourself be guided by the music of your choice, which will often be jazzy.

If you desire more luxury and comfort, head to the Crown Entertainment Complex located on the south bank of the Yarra River, which is one of the most touristic and enjoyable resorts in the city.

Do not forget to go to an information centre to find out about current activities, the right places to participate in a festival, a concert, ... They are there all the time.

When you have toured the city (allow at least 3 days there), you take your motorhome to visit the outskirts of Melbourne.

The Great Ocean Road is a great and must-see point to start your RV rental.

This road along the coast is considered one of the most beautiful in the world, with its 12 Apostles and its many waterfalls.

You can also try the different local wines recognized all over the world.

Consider bringing all-weather clothes (it's not uncommon to have all 4 seasons in one day) when visiting this part of Australia.
